A Brief History
- The Praise Temple Church of Christ (formerly New Montello Baptist Church) was established on June 24, 1976, Deacon Thorman Jerry being the founder. The location of the new church would be 911 Hamlin Street, N.E., Washington, D.C., the home of Deacon Thorman Jerry and his wife, Deacon Elizabeth Jerry.
- On August 21, 1976, at the National Convention of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Minister James Douglas Quarles was ordained, and on September 9, 1976, he was unanimously voted as the new Pastor of New Montello Baptist Church.
- Greater New Montello relocated to 4211-9th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. in May of, 1977.
- On August 28, 1978, the Greater New Montello Baptist Church was renamed Praise Temple Church of Christ.
- In October of 2014, after 36 blessed years at the 9th Street location, the Praise Temple Church of Christ relocated to its current location at 4105 54th Street in Bladensburg Maryland.
- In January of 2019, Pastor James Quarles' youngest son, Andre R. Quarles was installed as Pastor.
